This past weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to partner with Veterans United to bring their team and families a truly magical holiday photo booth experience.
We pulled out all of the stops for this fun and unique event vision, and called up one of our favorite vendors for the perfect furnishings - Courtney with Pretty Little Things Vintage Rentals! Once we had Courtney on board, co-founder, lead designer, and principal planner Lisa Wampler crafted a custom “Movies with Santa” photo booth setup that transformed a simple idea into an enchanting, immersive experience.
Our goal was to create a nostalgic holiday home setting with a movie themed twist, and the final result was nothing short of spectacular. Here's what made this custom photo booth event so special:
A Unique Concept
When Veterans United reached out, they told me that they wanted to create a completely unique movie themed holiday photo booth experience for their team and their families.
As soon as I saw these images I knew exactly what we needed to do to make this happen for them.
A Magical Design
This event was held at the Forum 8 Theatre in their party room. Not exactly the warm and cozy living room setting we were going for, as you can see from the image below:
So we went to work sourcing the perfect holiday setting to transform this space from theatre party room into something unique and special.
The first thing we did was reach out to Courtney at Pretty Little Things Vintage Rentals to see which furnishings she had discussed with the team at VU. From there, we took those items and got to work sourcing the perfect backdrop to set the scene for our home theatre booth space.
Once I had sourced everything I loved and thought might work well for this build, I pulled everything together into a total of 29 possible mock-up combinations, which Courtney and I then narrowed down to 12 versions that our clients could ultimately choose from.
I started with a custom-ordered cozy living room backdrop that set the tone for the event. Here's a few of the options they had to choose from:
Once we'd chosen a backdrop combination, we went through a number of flooring options with our client until we found the perfect one!
From there, we layered on elements that brought in a sense of warmth, fun, and nostalgia:
A 7.5ft tall Christmas Tree adorned with movie-themed ornaments, film strip and popcorn garlands, with presents nestled beneath sat in the corner next to Santa's red chair.
A Vintage Wooden Sleigh leaned against the tree, ready for tiny hands to hold onto as it slides down the snowy slopes.
A Green Sofa and Red Armchair set the scene for guests to cozy up by the fire and tell Santa their Christmas wishes.
A White Coffee Table sat atop a Vintage Rug adorned with Red and Green Books, Tiny Christmas Trees, popcorn cups, and a Vintage Radio.
A White Fireplace Mantle, decked with holiday decor sat behind the sofa, adding that final touch of coziness.
Santa Claus Himself, the star of the setup, brought smiles and joy to every guest.
Every detail, from the vintage furniture to the twinkling decorations, was thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable setting that felt like stepping onto the set of a holiday movie.
Personalized Photo Booth Experience
Our interactive photo booth was the perfect complement to the scene.
Guests received 2x3 printed photos on-site, which our team carefully placed into custom engraved photo frame ornaments that our client had ordered for their team to keep as a keepsake. It was the perfect way to capture the joy and preserve the memory of such a special event for years to come.
